How Do I Schedule Email Delivery or Set Up an Alert for an Analytics Report?
Learn how to schedule a recurring delivery or set up a conditional alert for an Analytics report.
Note: If you don’t see Analytics in your navigation, enable it in NimbusLabs in your settings first.
Deliveries vs. Alerts
A delivery sends your report on the schedule you set, every time; regardless of what the data shows.
An alert is a scheduled delivery that only sends when its results meet a condition you set, such as “Results have changed.” If the condition isn’t met when Analytics checks, no alert is sent. Use a delivery when you want the report on a routine cadence. Use an alert when you only want to hear about it if something specific happens.
Scheduling a Delivery
Note: These steps cover the Email delivery method. Amazon S3, SFTP, and Webhook each get their own article.
- Select File, then select Deliveries & Alerts from the report page.

You will now see the New delivery sidebar menu.
- Select Schedule for the delivery option.

- Select what to send: Entire dashboard or a specific chart.

- Select Email as the Destination.

- Enter a Delivery name. (This will default to the report name if unchanged.)

- On the Schedule tab, choose how often it sends: Now, Daily, Weekly, Monthly, or Custom. You will also need to set the day and time for the delivery.

When using the custom option, there is an AI tool to help.
Just type what you want and click the arrow to generate.
No day or time options will display if Now is selected. - On the Dashboard or Chart tab (depending on what you selected in step three above), choose a file format for the report delivery.

Format options available:
JSON formatting is also available for individual charts, but not for entire dashboards. - You can also select any optional formatting settings you want: Expand tables (shows up to 1,000 rows in a table instead of a limited view), Arrange dashboard tiles in a single column, Hide title, or Show filter values in dashboard.

Selecting Use cached results if available allows the report to return cached data when available rather than querying the database every time. - Select any controls and filters you want applied to this delivery. These will affect the report delivery only, and will not apply to the original report. These will be set individually for each report field.

Once you have configured your filter settings as desired, be sure to click Update to apply them. Multiple conditions can be added to filter a single field.
- On the Email tab, enter email addresses for Recipients, a Subject of the email, and optional message content in Body.

You may also specify a file name here, but it is not required. - Select Save at the bottom to schedule your report deliveries.

You may also click Test now to receive a copy of the delivery you have just scheduled right away.
Note: Analytics data refreshes about once an hour, so a scheduled delivery reflects data from within the past hour.
Setting Up an Alert
As explained above, an alert only sends when its condition is met. Setting up an alert uses the same window as scheduling a delivery, with a few changes:
At step 2 above, select Alert instead of Schedule. Before setting the frequency, select the Results to check and a Condition, such as “Results have changed.”

Continue through the remaining steps exactly as you would for a delivery.
Note: frequency options are Daily, Weekly, Monthly, or Custom. An alert doesn’t offer Now, since it needs a previous query to compare the current check results against.
An alert’s first check never sends a delivery; it only records a baseline to compare against on the next check.
Tip: You can also begin scheduling delivery or setting up an alert from an individual chart. To do this, hover over the chart, select the three-dot menu at the top right, then select Schedule delivery. This opens the same window with that chart already selected as what to send, instead of the entire dashboard.
