Full Error: “A business validation error has occurred while processing your request: Business Validation Error: Make sure all your transactions have a GST/HST rate before you save.”

Explanation

GST is the Canadian tax code for Goods and Services. HST (Harmonized Sales Tax) is a combination of federal and provincial taxes on goods and services in five of the Canadian Provinces. Canadian versions of QuickBooks will require tax rates on each line item in an estimate or invoice in order to sync.

How to Fix:

There are two reasons that this may be happening. Refer to the chart below for both reasons and their corresponding resolutions.

Reason Resolution
The estimate has not been signed yet. The New Estimate experience will not add a tax rate to the estimate until it is signed.  Request a signature from the customer, or manually sign it using the ellipsis on the right of the estimate
The transaction does have a tax rate, but is still giving the error. Check to ensure the Country is set to “Canada” in the Settings page under General: 057ff9c2-4d95-4999-bbc9-e34d254fc5c4
