Explanation
GST is the Canadian tax code for Goods and Services. HST (Harmonized Sales Tax) is a combination of federal and provincial taxes on goods and services in five of the Canadian Provinces. Canadian versions of QuickBooks will require tax rates on each line item in an estimate or invoice in order to sync.
How to Fix:
There are two reasons that this may be happening. Refer to the chart below for both reasons and their corresponding resolutions.
Reason | Resolution |
Each line item on the Invoice or Estimate doesn’t have a tax rate associated with it. | Ensure each line item has a tax rate or the full invoice has a tax rate selected. |
The transaction does have a tax rate, but is still giving the error. | Check to ensure the Country is set to “Canada” in the Settings page under General:
