You choose which record types sync and which direction the data flows. ![](https://support.jobnimbus.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Screenshot%202026-10-22%20at%204-03-26%E2%80%AFPM-png.png?width=670&height=658&name=Screenshot%202026-10-22%20at%204-03-26%E2%80%AFPM-png.png) ### **Sync Types and Supported Versions** Choose one of three sync types when you connect: - **Two-way**: Data flows in both directions. - **One-way, QuickBooks to JobNimbus**: Import only. - **One-way, JobNimbus to QuickBooks**: Export only. Accounting Sync works with QuickBooks Online Simple Start, Essentials, Plus, Advanced, and Enterprise Suite. Self-Employed and Solopreneur accounts aren't supported. The sync creates records in both systems. Disconnecting the sync doesn't delete the records it already created. ### **What Syncs** You select which record types sync during setup. Unless the table says otherwise, each record type follows the sync type you chose. | Record Type | How It Syncs | | --- | --- | | Contacts | Links to an existing QuickBooks customer by display name. The names must match exactly to link. Creates a Customer in QuickBooks. | | Jobs | Links by display name to the QuickBooks sub-customer or project. QuickBooks projects import into JobNimbus as Jobs. You can send the Job address to either the Bill to or the Ship to address in QuickBooks. | | Estimates | Always one-way, from JobNimbus to QuickBooks. Products and Taxes are selected automatically because Estimates need them. | | Invoices | Products and Taxes are selected automatically because Invoices need them. | | Credit Memos | Links by document number and amount if the record already exists in both systems. | | Payments | Payments sent from JobNimbus to QuickBooks go to Undeposited Funds. | | Products | Links by name. Cost and price follow your conflicts setting. Only Products used on a transaction sync. Exported products will use a default income account in QuickBooks | | Taxes | Always one-way, from QuickBooks to JobNimbus. Create all tax rates in QuickBooks. | | Bills and Expenses | Always one-way, from QuickBooks to JobNimbus. They appear in the Job's Profit Tracker. | Records sync in order. Contacts sync first, then Jobs, then Estimates and Invoices. Products sync before transactions, and Invoices sync before Payments. Otherwise, vendors are created in QuickBooks as customers, and you can't edit them there. - **Inactive QuickBooks customers and jobs**: Mark records inactive in QuickBooks to keep them out of JobNimbus. If you reactivate them later, they'll sync. Some records can't sync as they are: - Records with [group lines](https://support.jobnimbus.com/quickbooks-online-acc-sync-error-this-record-cant-sync-because-it-contains-group-lines?hsLang=en) or [discount lines](https://support.jobnimbus.com/quickbooks-online-acc-sync-error-this-record-cant-sync-because-it-contains-discount-lines?hsLang=en) - Transactions that use a tax rate that's been deleted or disabled - QuickBooks records with an empty item name (no product selected), which won't sync from QuickBooks ### **Things to Know** - **Matching existing records**: Contacts and Jobs link by display name. If the names don't match exactly, the sync creates duplicates in both systems. You can set it only once, before the first sync. - **Locations**: All JobNimbus locations sync to one QuickBooks Online company file.
