Why Is There a Duplicate Charge on My JobNimbus Payments account?

If a transaction fails, payments may be recovered through a charge to your JobNimbus Payments or bank account.

What is Returned Payment Recovery?

A Returned Payment Recovery is the means by which our processor balances your account when an ACH payment has been returned.

With Next Day Funding, funds are deposited into your bank account before the payment has fully cleared on the assumption that the transaction will be successful. Effectively, the funds are credited to your account before they actually exist.

If the payment returns (meaning that the transaction does not successfully complete because of insufficient funds, canceled payments, incorrect payment information, etc.), the processor must recover the funds credited to your account.

Why does it look like I was charged twice?

When a payment is returned, the processor will seek to recover the funds from the first available source, which can result in two recovery methods being used simultaneously:

  1. Automatic Draft: The payment processor will debit your account to recover the returned funds.
  2. Withholding New Payments: Any new payments you process are temporarily held instead of being deposited until the returned funds are covered (5-7 business days).

Because both happen in the same window of time it may look like two charges, but in reality it is the same recovery process.

This is not an additional charge or fee. It is the processor recovering the funds that were credited to your account if a payment fails to process.

How long does this process take?

The automatic draft takes 3–5 business days to complete. During that time, new payments may be withheld. However, once the draft clears, funding will go back to normal and any holds will be released in an upcoming payout.

What should I do if this happens?

Wait 3-5 business days for the draft to settle. After this time, funding should normalize automatically.

If you are still seeing issues after 5–7 business days, contact our support team.
