Tax exempt organizations

Certain charitable, religious, scientific, or educational organizations may be exempt from sales tax. Please understand that not all non-profit organizations qualify for tax exemption. If you currently receive a non-profit discount for JobNimbus, we can’t automatically exempt you from paying sales tax without the proper documentation.

If you believe your organization should be tax-exempt, you'll need to send JobNimbus the documentation required by your state. Each state has its own requirements for proof of tax exemption, so be sure you take the time to submit the correct documentation. In general, states don't accept your 501(c) letter from the IRS as proof of exemption.

States with exemptions

The following will explain what each state requires for you to send for proof of exemption.

Colorado

For non-profit organizations, the state of Colorado requires you to submit a Colorado-issued Sales Tax Exemption Certificate (DR0160) and, in some cases, a completed City Affidavit of Exempt Sale certificate.

Some cities in Colorado require additional forms before tax exemptions are made available. If your organization is in Boulder, Parker, or Denver, you will need to submit a completed City Exemption Certificate.
